Nepal – Everest base camp trek and helicopter return

Everest’s base camp is the most popular adventure destination in Nepal – Himalayas. The first to open the Everest route in May 1953, were Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Everest Base Camp is the ultimate destination for those who prefer trekking and adventure. The Everest Base Camp+Kala Patthar trek and helicopter return, is the kind of “once in a lifetime” adventure, with challenges and achievements, with the joy of being so close to the world’s highest mountain. The scenery is incredible, with peaks surrounded by glaciers, ancient monasteries and, of course, the fascinating culture and tradition of the Sherpa people.

“Everest Trekking + Helicopter” is a popular tour, with a moderate hiking difficulty with spectacular views, the rural life of the sherpa people, a wide variety of culture and traditions, colorful festivals and traditional buddhist monasteries. Flora and fauna is another detail that makes Sagarmatha National Park a wonderful place to explore. The Everest region, established in 1976 with its 1248 km² area, is located in the eastern part of Nepal, protected by Sagarmatha National Park. The northern border is common with Tibet, including Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world. The altitude is ranging from 2845 (Lukla) m to 8848 m (the roof of the world – Everest peak), also you will be able to see some of the highest mountains in the world: Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyu, Pumori, Makalu, Ama Dablam, who will reward your effort with their beauty.

Itinerary

Itinerary

We stick to the schedule but sometimes we have to adapt to the weather changes or unforeseen situations.

DAY 1

Transfer from the airport to the hotel. After the accommodation we will have a technical meeting.

DAY 2

We will visit some of the sights in Kathmandu. Stupa Boudhanath impresses by its size, being one of the largest buildings of it’s kind in the world. Since 1979 it has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The historic town of Patan is known for its impressive cultural heritage. Also, it is worth mentioning  the Patan Durbar market, included on the UNESCO list of the seven “monument areas” forming the Kathmandu Valley World Heritage Area. Because of the sculptures made from rock, metal or other materials, the outside of the buildings resembles an outdoor museum. Another important touristic attraction is the Swayambhu ancient religious complex located atop a hill in Kathmandu. The complex consists of a stupa, a variety of shrines and temples, some dating back to the Licchavi period. A Tibetan monastery, a museum and a library are more recent additions.

Swayambu is also known as the Monkey Temple.

DAY 3

Kathmandu-Lukla flight (lasts 45 minutes). The airport was built in 1964 under the guidance of Edmund Hillary. Initially, the airport was built on the flatter land of farmers, but they did not want to give up their land. Trek to Phakding or Monjo (3/4 h, located at 2640 m altitude). Phakding is a village in the Khumbu region, Nepal, also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The town has a number of lodgings and stores catering to the needs of visitors as well as a number of internet cafés.

DAY 5
